Dr. Apostolos Mitrousias has specialized expertise in Breast Surgeon – Mastologist, possessing extensive scientific expertise and long-standing clinical experience exclusively at Breast Surgical Oncology and the Oncoplastic Breast Reconstruction 

Holds the position of Senior Surgeon at the 251 Hellenic Air Force General Hospital in Athens, where he is the Head of the Breast Clinic. Simultaneously, he maintains Private Breast Clinic and collaborates with leading Breast Centers: Euroclinic Athens (Ampelokipoi), Mediterraneo Hospital (Glyfada) and IASO Thessaly (Larissa). 

His practice integrates rigorous scientific accuracy with a deep respect for the unique needs of every woman, providing tailored and comprehensive care for breast diseases.  

Excellence in Breast Surgical Techniques 

Within the scope of his clinical practice, he actively participated in the first-ever endoscopic mastectomy worldwide performed with the assistance of a robotic arm (HandX® system), which was performed at Mediterraneo Hospital. This procedure marks a milestone in the advancement of minimally invasive surgical techniques in breast surgery, aiming at faster recovery, reduced scarring, and significant improvement in women’s quality of life.

He possesses specialized experience in the use of cutting-edge technologies in breast surgery, such as intraoperative breast ultrasound, biopsies performed under ultrasound guidance, as well as the techniques for breast reconstruction, either immediately or in a delayed manner, with a focus on achieving optimal aesthetic and functional outcomes.

Dr. Mitrousias possesses 12 publications in international peer-reviewed journals (indexed in PubMed) and scientific presentations at global breast cancer congresses (Barcelona, Vienna, Paris)  

He maintains a consistent scientific presence in international and in all the Hellenic National Conferences on Breast Surgical Oncology, both as a commentator or speaker and as an author of scientific presentations. 

His clinical and scientific research interests are centered on the surgical treatment of hereditary breast cancer, in the lymph node mapping and evaluation, as well as in the evaluation and implementation of minimally invasive surgical techniques. He places special emphasis on oncoplastic techniques and breast reconstruction, either as standalone procedures or as part of immediate or delayed reconstruction, aiming at the functional and aesthetic preservation of the breast.

He participates in multidisciplinary oncology boards for the personalized management of breast cancer patients and collaborates with educational prevention and awareness programs in partnership with municipal organizations and medical institutions.
