What is the BIRADS system and what is its role in breast evaluation?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The BIRADS system<\/strong> (Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System<\/strong>) is an internationally recognized classification used in breast imaging,<\/strong> like the mammography,<\/strong> \u03c4\u03bf breast ultrasound<\/strong> and breast MRI.<\/strong> Developed by American College of Radiology<\/strong> to clearly guide the management of findings and improve communication between experts: breast surgeon, radiologist, pathologist, cytologist and oncologist.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The use of BIRADS helps in the accurate assessment of breast imaging findings<\/strong> and determines the next steps \u2014 whether it's follow-up or further investigation with a biopsy.<\/p>\n

The classification is based on ACR BI-RADS\u00ae Atlas 5th Edition (2013)<\/strong>, which is the official model of American College of Radiology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
